An Alternative Part... This is a thermostat housing for some non USA engines that use the "3-hole R type" cylinder head. All 1500's have this bolt pattern as did 1600's up to engine #R-10606. To use this you have to have a filler neck put on your radiator (or use a 2000 radiator which already has one). This will enable you to fill the radiator easier, and also avoid the ritual of trying to get that tall thermostat housing to come off of the studs now and then for thermostat changing. It is in effect a 1500 housing, with the improved flow of the 1600. The correct 1500 housing is identical except it was designed for a slightly smaller hose.
