440-07U is the spring used on the top position (brake
adjuster) on all 63-70 cars. The
440-08U is the most common spring used on the wheel
cylinder position (bottom). The 63-67 cars came with a
shorter spring; 440-06U. Nissan began manufacturing these
in an even shorter version in the 80s with a smaller wire
coil size (440-06). I believe both of the shorter springs
were designed for the old style brake shoes that I think
have different positioning of the spring hook holes. Many
early cars have had the later shoes put on and many later
cars have had the early shoes installed. Eventually I'll
have a picture up of the two styles of shoes and maybe
that will shed some more light. Until then; measure your
old springs. If one end is broken off just measure one
half of the spring from the middle to the good end and
double that figure. . .
