A Worm and Peg Steering Boxes were used up to
mid 1969. The improved recirculating ball box
"Type B" were installed beginning at
approximately SPL311-25000 and SRL311-09000.
We suggest checking as some cars have been
altered. Type
B U-Joint bearing caps are about 5/8",
oil filler plug has a head about 19mm (3/4"),
and a thread diameter of about

STEERING
BOX INFO:
Type A U-Joint has 15/16" bearing
caps, and a thread diameter of about 13/16.
Oil filler plug has a head about 1 1/8"
across.
