USED CAPS are NOT GUARANTEED to seal ANYTHING

They are strictly for LOOKS.

OK, OK, but with ALL caps; we would strongly recommend you cut or get someone to cut or find a suitable neoprene gasket for the cap or it may not seal... The 172-10 style caps we many times have a seal for; and if so; will note it in description and include one.

The little arms that grab the fuel filler tube can also get out of whack and have to be readjusted (bent slightly) if cap isn't grabbing the tube tightly. With most used locks at this age (40-50 years old); the keys can be sticky and you may have to "jiggle" them to get them to function. Also remember most of the caps are designed so you can't remove the key when they are in the unlocked position.

Whatever gas remnants are on cap eventually turn to varnish and/or crud. Be sure to take off your filler tube and make sure the vent system on cap is clear so tank pressure can escape. Failure to do this can result in leaks and or damage to tank.
